Matteo and the entire team at Vistamar Retreats recreated my conception of what true hospitality means. The team strikes a perfect balance between giving suggestions / assisting with planning and trip coordination,and being hands-off / allowing you to enjoy your time. The amentities are fabulous and revolves around a strong emphasis to enjoy being outside in the incredible environment that is Ayampe. Every meal we had with Fleur was top tier and Matteo's recommendations for restaurants had us blown away each time. Lean into the outdoor, laid-back adventure attitude of Ayampe and take every nugget of wisdom that Matteo offers- it will make for an unforgettable trip. I have nothing but gratitude for this experience and will hopefully be back to visit very soon!

Vistamar is exceptional. Everything you could possibly want: A good bed, spacious rooms, cleanliness, hot water, fantastic food, and reliable internet. The hosts/owners are exceptional at reading and adapting to their guests. If you want to surf or learn to surf, hike, bike, practice yoga, go birding—you got it. If you want to do none of these things and be alone in a beautiful setting-you got it. My favorite things: interesting conversations with our hosts and other guests, the daily yoga classes, the 2 breakfasts!, the competence and kindness of all who clearly work as a team to make Vistamar the special place it is. Best of all, they let me take Sila and Paco 🐶🐶 to the beach and we rode the waves together.

This was an amazing yoga & surf retreat! The accommodations, food, atmosphere, activities, instructors were beyond exceptional. I highly recommend Vistamar Ayampe guesthouse! I felt like I was staying with family and didn’t want to say goodbye. Matteo & Juan put together an amazing itinerary and I had one of the best vacations of my life. I was able to relax and have amazing adventures off the beaten path. The service & location were impeccable and food, surf/yoga classes were unbelievable I will definitely be back! This place is magical!

Beyond thankful!
This was the experience of a lifetime for me. What you have created here will live in my memories forever. Thank you for your insight, perspective, honesty, and understanding how so many different types of people are wired. I have no idea if I will ever be back here again, but I certainly plan to not shut up about it for a long time. I will be looking forward to a good laugh on the other side with everyone when we learn the big human upstairs is actually Paco!

Exceeded all expectations - this place is awesome. The rooms are well- designed and have really comfortable beds (it's also super quiet at night). There's a great outdoor kitchen, so you can pick up fresh fish and cook with all your new friends. There's a nice outdoor garden space for relaxing, and Matteo's very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. They should be charging twice as much! 10/10 would stay again.
